Merchant Gourmet

One ingredient makes all the difference.

Merchant Gourmet® was created in 1985, inspired by the nation’s growing appetite for exciting, innovative cooks’ ingredients. We were instrumental in bringing ingredients such as Porcini Mushrooms, Sun Dried Tomatoes and Whole Chestnuts to delighted consumers and are now stocked in all of the UK’s major grocery retailers.

More recently our range of ready to eat grains and accompaniments - including Ready to Eat Beluga® Lentils, Red and White Quinoa and Puy Lentils with Sun Dried Tomatoes and Basil, were introduced in response to our predictions that the nation’s cooks are becoming more health conscious yet unwilling to trade delicious flavours, and are enjoying considerable category growth. We have a separate Merchant Gourmet® website to inspire our loyal consumers.

Chefs need something a bit different – great quality, innovative, exciting products that help them to develop distinctive menus, and give them confidence at the pass. Using our extensive foodservice experience, we have developed our Merchant Gourmet range for the Professional Chef, offering the right cost effective pack sizes and formats.
